A National Helpline Supporting Bereaved Children and their Families

The Winston’s Wish Helpline is a national helpline offering support, information and guidance to all those caring for a child or young person who has been bereaved. It is staffed by people with extensive experience, who have up-to-date knowledge of supporting bereaved children and their families.

Family members or professionals call to discuss a huge range of concerns and questions such as: ‘Why does my daughter keep asking where daddy is when he died two months ago?’ and ‘He wants to attend the funeral but his dad says he’s too young: what do you think?’ to ‘I’m concerned about a child I’m working with: what is the best way to offer support?’ Our helpline practitioners take time to listen carefully, and to help the person make sense of questions and concerns.

The Helpline is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and calls are charged at the local rate.
