A National Helpline Supporting Bereaved Children and their Families
08452 03 04 05
The Winston’s Wish Helpline is a national Helpline offering support, information and guidance to all those caring for a child or young person who has been bereaved. It is staffed by people with extensive experience, who have up-to-date knowledge of supporting bereaved children and their families.
Family members or professionals call to discuss a huge range of concerns and questions such as: ‘Why does my daughter keep asking where daddy is when he died two months ago?’ and ‘He wants to attend the funeral but his dad says he’s too young: what do you think?’ to ‘I’m concerned about a child I’m working with: what is the best way to offer support?’ Our helpline practitioners take time to listen carefully, and to help the person make sense of questions and concerns.
The Helpline is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and Wednesday evening from 7pm to 9.30pm. Calls are charged at the local rate.
New - Callback service
If you would like more support than the Helpline can offer then the Winston’s Wish Callback service could help. Designed for families and professionals who would like additional support but for whatever reason, face to face support is not the best option for them, the Callback Service can offer 3 – 4 planned telephone calls from one of our experienced practitioners. This service is available to any family with a bereaved child or professionals supporting a bereaved child based anywhere in the UK.
Please call the Helpline for more information.
