In your school
With so many schools having first hand experience of our service, schools are a vital part of our fundraising and one of our biggest supporters. There are many ways in which schools can get involved with fundraising for Winston’s Wish.
Every March – Winston’s Wish encourages schools to hold a Mad March Hair Day – where we ask schools to let the kids go mad with their hair for just one day in March. Plaits, mohican, spikes, stripes or wigs it’s a great way to raise funds and have fun!
Or why not hold a Non-Uniform Day and allow the pupils to come to school in their own clothes if they make a donation to Winston's Wish.
You can also see if your school will let you organise a Cabaret in school time. Sell tickets for £2 each giving pupils the right to go to this instead of their ‘favourite’ maths or history lesson.
Another great way to help us is to choose Winston's Wish as your school's Charity of the Year.
Schools choosing a Charity of the Year tend to fundraise only for that charity throughout the year. If they choose to do so they can pick one week in the year in which they will carry out their main fundraising events on. During this time, for example, you can hold an event on stage every lunchtime (a talent show, an auction etc.) along with sponsored sports events, raffles, sales, competitions and quizzes.
School events really are a great way to have fun and to get a whole community, including the children, involved in raising funds for Winston's Wish.
