Steel band to bang the drums for Winston’s Wish

Posted by

Winston’s Wish, the charity for children who have been bereaved, is looking forward to an evening of jamming in Gloucester to raise much needed funds. The Pantastic Steel Band and Mango Jam jazz quartet will both be performing at the event in aid of the charity.

Jazz lovers are invited to dance the night away in aid of Winston’s Wish at May’s Summer Pan Jamming event. All profits from the event will help fund the support Winston’s Wish offer children who have been bereaved.

The Summer Pan Jamming event has been organised by Dave Lynall, a director at Martin & Co Lettings, in association with close friend Steve Twigg, a member of the Mango Jam jazz band. Dave is also a member of the Gloucestershire Independent Network (GIN), who supports Winston’s Wish.

It’s not the first time Dave’s family have fundraised for the children’s charity. Last year, his brother Antony cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for Winston’s Wish.

The Summer Panjamming event takes place on May 20th, starting at 7pm, and takes place at the Churchdown Community Centre, Parton Road in Churchdown, Gloucester. Tickets cost £7.50 for adults and £5.00 for children.

Anyone looking for further information about the event should contact Elizabeth Thatcher on ethatcher@winstonswish.org.uk or on 01242 515 157.

Dave Lynall, event organiser, said:

“Pantastic is a Painswick based children’s steel band which was formed in 2013 after being inspired by travels to the Caribbean. We are an eleven piece band of enthusiastic and talented young musicians playing a range of music including reggae, pop ballads and traditional calypso. Mango Jam is a Gloucester based Jazz outfit that play a unique and eclectic mix of mainstream jazz, jazz funk and pop.

Both bands are incredibly proud to be supporting Winston’s Wish and we are looking forward to putting on a really fun evening. Don’t book a babysitter – bring the whole family!”

Elizabeth Thatcher, Community Fundraiser at Winston’s Wish, commented:

“A huge thanks for all the effort and hard work that has gone into organising this event by both Dave and Steve. They have done a fantastic job of pulling everything together, including some brilliant acts! This promises to be a really fun night with a great atmosphere and we look forward to seeing a good crowd there.”
