A unique feature of our training is that it is designed and delivered by family services practitioners at Winston’s Wish who work with the whole family, contributing to all the services we offer, and who can therefore draw on their own experience of working in a child-focused way with bereaved children and their families.
We blend theory with practice in our training, ensuring that those attending will leave with practical, creative ideas to implement. This ensures that our training days are clinically based. Delegates will have an interactive training experience using a wide range of teaching methods and will go away with practical ideas for working alongside bereaved children and young people.
Our course evaluations indicate an increased level of confidence in 99% of our training delegates.
“Only after receiving proper training from Winston’s Wish did I feel confidence and purpose in delivering support to children and family members regarding bereavement. The training gave me a confidence in how best to respond to the most difficult of questions from young people and parents. The mix of theory and practical activities allow me to shape the support that I deliver, so it meets the needs of the child. The training empowered me to be able to hear the most difficult of stories and enabled me to know how I can best support the child as they experienced their grief. Winston’s Wish training should be a must for all staff with a pastoral role.”
