Winston’s Wish, the leading childhood bereavement charity in the UK, is delighted to partner with Financial Associates (FA), financial advisors who advise on mortgages, investments, protection, insurance, pensions and savings.

Established in 1992, Financial Associates is a nationwide organisation based in Wiltshire. The company has been loyal supporters of Winston’s Wish since May 2011, raising money for the charity through generous fundraising and donations affiliated to policy sales.

Each year, Winston’s Wish supports over 30,000 bereaved children and young people through an array of dedicated services. These in-depth support programmes include support following death as a result of accident, illness, homicide, suicide and also through military service.

James Bryce, Director at Financial Associates, explains the ongoing relationship with Winston’s Wish:

“At FA, we recognise the importance of lending our strength and influence to good causes. Sadly, a number of our clients and one of our Directors have personal experience of Winston’s Wish. We believe that many families don’t take the necessary protection cover or make relevant provisions to cope with bereavement and support from a charity such as Winston’s Wish at that time can make all the difference”.

Winston’s Wish depends almost entirely on voluntary donations for its income, and this injection of funds from Financial Associates will be paid to the charity on a quarterly basis. Bryce added:

“Our regular donations of £2 per life insurance, critical illness, income protection, mortgage, pension, or investment product taken out by our clients, are funded and supported by us and our Advisers.  Our current target is to raise £25,000 for Winston’s Wish”.

Financial Associates hopes the targeted amount will be reached over the next four years; a figure which would enable Winston’s Wish to  cover the cost of running their email support service for the year, for example.  Emails to this service are from young people and the adults supporting them, who are seeking practical advice and emotional support from the charity’s experienced and clinically qualified Family Services team.

FA will also donate any money raised through company fundraising initiatives as Winston’s Wish continues to be their chosen charity.

Catherine Ind, Head of Fundraising and Regional Development at Winston’s Wish, commented:

“Our ongoing partnership with Financial Associates brings in vital money to allow us to continue our work with bereaved children and their families. We’re hugely grateful to the team at FA for continuing to support Winston’s Wish”.
